The Feast of All Souls, also known as the Day of the Dead.
Every month is dedicated to a particular devotion within the Catholic Church. The month of November is devoted to The Holy Souls in Purgatory. Holy Mother Church prays in a special way today for the souls of the faithfully departed. It is important that we, as their brothers and sisters in Christ, aid the poors souls in purgatory with our prayers and devotions.
This morning, I had the opportunity to attend mass outside at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Fort Recovery. Oh what a chilly and blessed morning it was to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the faithful souls laid to rest there, in addition to those dear to me who have passed on from this earth.

Did you know that you can gain a plenary indulgence each day from today, November 2nd, through November 8th on behalf of the souls of Purgatory by visiting a cemetery and praying for the dead. In order to receive the full indulgence, one must go to confession one time within a week (before or after) of doing so and must receive Holy Communion and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father (usually one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be) one time each for each individual indulgence.
