Hail, Holy Mother, who gave birth to the King who rules heaven and earth for ever. (Entrance Antiphon)
Today as Catholics, we honor Mary as The Holy Mother of God. It is also the last day in the Octave of Christmas. The remembrance of Mary’s divine motherhood should infuse in us a further sense of Christmas joy.
This precise title of Mary as “Mother of God” or in Greek, Theotokos (God - bearer), is the highest salutation that we can give her. From this, every other honor flows. Within this name, became the touchstone of the Church’s teaching about the Incarnation.
One can learn a lot through reflecting and pondering on the virtues within the life Mary.
As you begin this new year, befriend Mary and learn from Mary as she shows you how to become a vessel of holiness, a temple of the Holy Spirit through consenting and allowing God to work in your life. As Heaven doesn’t belong to those who grasp for it but rather it’s for those who are open to receiving this greatest gift from the Father. Simply put, why not make this year a year to give your life to Christ through Mary, as our lives are nothing but a gift. (Hint, Hint, Mary Consecration)
Become a small portal, just like Mary, so that God can give the world something through you.
Mary, The Holy Mother of God, pray for us
