In the Catholic Church, every month is dedicated to a particular devotion within the faith! The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

In 1849, Pope Pius IX instituted the feast of the Precious Blood of Jesus, however the devotion is old as the Christian faith. The early Fathers say that the Church was born from the pierced side of Christ, and that the sacraments were brought forth through His Blood.

Devotion to the Precious Blood is not an option, rather it is obligatory, and for every follower of Christ. As Catholics, we participate in this devotion every time we go to mass and receive Jesus in the Eucharist. It's a recognition of Jesus' sacrifice and the spilling of His blood instead of ours, for the salvation of humanity.

One drop of Christ's blood was enough to redeem the whole human race!
