August: The Month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Every month is dedicated to a particular devotion within the Catholic Church. The month of August is devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

Mary pondered and treasured the sacred events from the the life of Christ in her holy heart, as in Scripture, her pure heart is recognized as something that we should all imitate.

Every First Saturday of the month, Catholics honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary for five different kinds of offenses and blasphemies spoken against her heart.

During an apparition of Lucia, Mary appeared with the Child Jesus on December 10th, 1925. Jesus spoke to Lucia saying, "Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment, while there is no one who does an act of reparation to withdraw them for her."

This devotion is one of the most important principles that came from the Fatima message. It shows us Catholics how important it is to honor Mary as she helps us fight the battle here on Earth!
